Paintings by Linda, LoveItaly and John Taylor. (And a few flowers by Dubonnet.)
Some paintings just make you happy. They don’t have to be that good. Don’t even have to have a very interesting subject matter. But they do have something bright and sparkling.
Today I have three Flickr sets with just that quality:
Linda paints Gods creation
Linda is trying to “reflect the beauty of Gods creation in her work”. She indeed paints a lovely picture of her world. She paints mostly cityscapes and paintings of her cats.

Birds by LoveItaly
On any given day LoveItaly sees 25 varieties of birds and she loves to paint them.
In this set you’ll find some 30 watercolors of different birds painted with a light touch and almost opaque colors.
John Taylors oils and pastels
After his retirement John Taylor took up painting as a way of occupying himself. He really likes the bright colours of garden scenes, water reflections and effects of light and shade. He paints a lot of landscapes like this beautiful pond with a swan.

Flowers by Dubonnet
While looking for nice paintings this morning I came across this beautiful but small set of flowers on flickr.

Photos by John Rizzuto, Andy Pettigrew and Clifford Sax.
Route 66 by John Rizzuto
Even for someone who is born in the Netherlands Route 66 has a romantic ring about it. Never having visited the States I’ve never had the change to see it. But this set of John Rizzuto gives a nice impression.
Photostream by Andy Pettigrew
As one of his admires puts it: “Andy has the eye.
That’s his secret. Whether looking at Urban or Rural scenes he observes that which is beautiful or funny, or needs to be criticized, and he captures it with his camera.
It is a privelige to look at his pictures and sometimes see the world that Harry Halibut seems to see all the time.”
Black and white set by Clifford Sax
With black and white photos the shapes of the subjects and the contrast within the photo are very important. Since most photographers don’t grasp this it’s rare to find a nice site.
Here’s one by Clifford Sax

Paintings from Watmough and John K. Harrell and fractal art by Rein Nomm
Watmough paintings
At first glance I thought this site was called “Wat’s mough painting”. “Wat” being the Dutch word for “what”. But it turns out that this guy is called Watmough. On his site Watmough paintings he flexes his painting muscles and shows what a professional painter can draw in his free time.
Paintings from life. Landscapes and still lifes he encounters in his life.

Fractal art – A calculated art form
As computers have become much faster it has become much easier to create fractal pattern. Looking for art on the Internet I get to see them a lot. But usually they look like the original Mandelbrot set.
Rein Nomm has created a fractal set that is both unique and beautiful.

Drawings and paintings by Sunny Apinchapong, Cornie47 and John Clap.
Sunny Apinchapong is an American painter from Chinese descent who paints beautiful portraits, still lifes and scenes from life.

Boy from Moore Street by Sunny Apinchapong
At Flickr I found a very nice photostream by some one calling himself Cornie47. He draws and paints pictures that seem to be target at the World of Warcraft.

Like most day painters John Clap mostly paints still lifes. But unlike most he uses a very bright palette. His paintings really brighten your day.
