About

I started this blog a few years ago after having discovered that I’m autistic.
I finally understood a few things.
For instance why other people are always talking to each other while I’m perfectly happy just watching the world around me. Why I’ve always felt that there should be some better way of communicating. But I never quite figured out what I needed or why.

It turns out that my brain is especially wired for processing visual information.
My thought process looks some what like a movie and I have a photographic memory. (Although that doesn’t mean that I don’t forget things. It just means that I have photos in my memory.)
My problem with communicating is that I have to translate pictures and movie to words and sentences.
Although I’ve become very proficient over the years, it still leaves a lot to be desired.

So when I first found out that I’m autistic it seemed obvious to learn to draw so I could show the pictures and movies in my mind.
But after trying it for a few years it has become clear that it doesn’t work. For one thing because it’s just to boring to draw pictures I already see in my mind.
I do like to draw abstract because when drawing abstract I often don’t know what the result will be before I’m finished. But there is so much more in the world then just abstract pictures.

So I’m going to try to find an other way to show my world.
At the moment I’m not quite sure what it’s going to be.
We’ll see.
