Painting with a childs play toy

by Henk ter Heide on Tuesday June 29, 2010

A few months ago I decided that I had reach the end of what I could do with color pencils and that I should try to paint.
The owner of the local art supply shop advised me to paint with oil paints, and since I’ve known this man for years I trusted him.

I didn’t like oil paint.
Not only is it far to complicated with it’s mixing of oil and turpentine. But with it’s drying time of two day it takes for ever to paint a picture.
Thinking that maybe painting just wasn’t my thing I gave it up all together.

But blood is thicker then water.
Lately I have been feeling that I should try if I like painting with watercolors.
But I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something I might not like. So I bought a little child painting set in a toy shop.

This picture isn’t supposed to depict anything. It’s just me playing with different colors.
And loving it.
