Although getting inspiration wasn’t the goal of my one week break it did work. As soon as I started concentrating on the pictures in my mind I started “seeing” very beautiful pictures and it was much easier to translate them to drawings.
While being driven to my work I looked out of the window and saw how the fog floated into a lower part of the meadow creating something that almost looked like a lake. I had to try and capture this in a drawing.
This picture also gave me an opportunity to experiment with the color white.
My new color pencil box doesn’t have a white pencil. Which isn’t a problems since my old color pencil box does. What is a problem is that you can’t draw white with a white pencil.
The white pencil is used for blending colors.
To get white in a drawing you have use the color of the paper. By omitting color.
For some reason I had a hard time doing this. To me the paper carries the drawing. It isn’t part of it. I had to make a mental somersault to draw this picture.

Awesome!! This is great. I needed a way to draw fog and was trying to color in with whites and grays but no success. Thanks for the tip!
